In order to upload your personal web site you will need to:
- Have a personal username and password. When you are ready to upload your site, please contact us at 1.888.667.4868 and we will supply you with a username and password.
- Have an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Program
- Windows -- WS-FTP
- Mac -- Fetch
You have your Web Page created and your FTP program installed and are ready to proceed. Here is some important information you will need to remember to complete this process.
- FTP Host Name: ftp.fairpoint.net
- Home Page Directory: public_html
- Name of first (home) page: index.html or index.htm (all lowercase)
- URL of homepage: http://www.fairpoint.net/~Your_Username
To begin:
- Start your FTP Program (WS_FTP or Fetch).
- Enter the FTP information in the opening screen.
- Click OK -- You should see one of the screens below.
- Now you can upload your HTML files to your public_html directory.
If using WS_FTP: Select the files to transfer in the left window and click -> (the right arrow button). Transfer HTML files as ASCII and transfer image files (GIFs and JPEGs) as binary.
If using Fetch: Click Put Files. Transfer HTML files as Text and image files (GIFs and JPEGs) as Raw Data.
- You can now view your page at http://www.fairpoint.net/~YourUsername.
Note: FrontPage extensions are not supported on your personal web page. You can use FrontPage as an HTML editor, but the extensions and the publish feature will not work.
FTP Information
Remember FTP stands for (File Transfer Protocol). You will be connecting to the ISP's server for the transfer process.

Uploading HTML Files
When copying the files into your directory you PUT them into the
directory. This can be done by dragging the file for transfer from
you desktop or file to the directory window showing in the fetch
directory window. You can also click on the PUT button and select
from the file from the dialog box.
MAC FTP Fetch

With the PC based FTP program you change directory to the directory
that hold your files. The transfer of files is then accomplished by
selecting the files and then clicking the directional arrows in the
center of the window.
